ABOUT TIM BERKEY
Tim Berkey is Chair of Graduate Programs in the School of Education and Human
Development at the University of Houston-Victoria. He teaches educational
leadership and is a two time recipient of the university’s Excellence in
Teaching Award. His research and authorship of professional and field based
articles have focused on the changing roles of school leadership. He has served
as a private consultant to school districts and organizations throughout the
country and has focused his work in the areas of effective educational
leadership, change management, teacher leadership, knowledge transfer, and
school improvement.
Dr. Berkey earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from
Miami University and his masters and doctorate from the University of Akron.
Prior to joining the UHV faculty, Tim served as a teacher, principal, and
superintendent spanning a period of thirty years in Ohio and Illinois. His
experiences as a principal of three Blue Ribbon schools include state and
national recognition for innovative programs by the JFK School of Government,
Ford Foundation, National School Boards Association, American Association of
School Administrators, the Great Lakes Governor’s Association, Crain’s Business
Magazine and Newsweek.
