Lisa McColl, co-author of Test Less, Assess More: A K-8 Guide to Formative Assessment, authored an article in the Fall 2011 issue of The Learning Principal. The article was titled "Balance is Key in Leading, Learning, and Letting Go."
The piece talked about the challenges of assessing teacher leadership in McColl's school's Academy Project, which involved moving the kids in the "basic" range to the proficient range. McColl writes, "The biggest challenge came from having veteran staff in a high-achieving school. Getting them to take risks and do thing differently was difficult when they knew they were already successful."
